Movie trailers can be fun and  they may contain simple useful language. Let's try to improve our skills in English as a foreign language working on these two new trailers.

Romeo & Juliet (2013)

The first  is related to our English literature syllabus and your task is to recognize in the trailer as many scenes as you can from the play we studied few months ago. There's a new Romeo and Juliet film coming out in October, shot in Italy last year (main locations Subiaco, Mantova, Verona).  Carlo Carlei is the director of a stellar cast including Hailee Steinfeld as Juliet and Douglas Booth as Romeo, along with Paul Giamatti (Friar Laurence), Damian Lewis (Lord Capulet), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Benvolio), Stellan Skarsgard (Prince Escalus).

So,  ready to recognize familiar scenes from Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and familiar places from beautiful Italy?

The Mortal Intruments. City of Bones. (2013)

The second trailer is for an action movie based on a bestselling series of urban fantasy novels for young readers, The Mortal Instruments. The author, Cassandra Clare, has sold millions of copies all over the world and now book 1, City of Bones  has become a movie coming out at the end of this summer (23 August in the UK and US, 29 August here in Italy).
In the cast Lily Collins (Clary), Jamie Campbell Bower (Jace), Robert Sheehan (Simon Lewis), Aidan Turner (Luke), Kevin Zegers (Alec), Jemima West (Isabelle), Jonathan Rhys Meyers (Valentine), Lena Headey (Jocelyn), Jared Harris (Hodge) .
Ms Clare has created an incredibly fascinating alternate world including shadowhunters (beings of incredible power, half-angel half-human), angels, demons and downworlders (vampires, warlocks, werewolves, fairies). Her protagonists are teenage heroes and heroines who are at the same time gripping and fun to read: demon hunting  is their forte as well as irony and sarcasm.
Has City of Bones got anything in common with Romeo and Juliet? One main crucial feature: a couple of star-crossed  lovers: Clary and Jace.
Enjoy the trailer!
